o San Jose-Based PayPal Names Sri Shivananda as New CTO

San Jose, Calif. -- PayPal, the San Jose-based payment technology giant, on Tuesday named Sri Shivananda as its senior vice president and chief technology officer (CTO), effective April 1. The appointment follows the decision by current CTO James Barrese to step down. Barrese will remain with the company for an unspecified period to assist with the transition. Shivananda previously spent 15 years with former PayPal-parent eBay, leading that company's global platform and infrastructure (GPI) team. Since the separation, he has served as PayPal's vice president of GPI. With Barrese's departure, PayPal said it will realign responsibilities within the company.
