o Mountain View-Based Couchbase Raises $30 Million in Sixth Round

Mountain View, Calif. -- Couchbase, a Mountain View-based developer of an open source database platform for digital businesses, said on Tuesday it has raised $30 million in its sixth round of funding, led by Sorenson Capital. Previous backers Accel Partners, Adams Street Partners, Ignition Partners, Mayfield Fund, North Bridge Venture Partners and West Summit also participated in the round, which the company will use to accelerate sales, and expand technical support and engineering activities. "This funding round will take us to cash flow positive and should be our last round prior to an IPO," said CEO Bob Wiederhold. Couchbase customers include AOL, AT&T, Cisco, Comcast, Concur, Disney, eBay, General Electric, Marriott, Nordstrom, Neiman Marcus, PayPal Verizon and Wells Fargo.

o Mountain View-Based Skyport Systems Lands $30 Million in Third Round

Mountain View, Calif. -- Skyport Systems, a Mountain View-based developer of enterprise security architecture, said on Tuesday it has landed $30 million in its third round of funding. GV (formerly known as Google Ventures) led the round, with Cisco Investments, Thomvest Ventures, Northgate Capital and InstantScale, as well as all previous backers, also participating. The company, which now has secured $67 million since its inception, said it will use the latest proceeds to expand sales and marketing activities and accelerate its research and development programs. Skyport's SkySecure offering delivers infrastructure for protecting IT environments from attacks while providing visibility into all traffic and administrative changes.

o SanDisk Shareholders Approve $19 Billion Sale to Western Digital

Milpitas, Calif. -- SanDisk, the Milpitas-based flash storage company, said on Tuesday that its shareholders have approved the company's $19 billion sale to Irvine-based storage technology giant Western Digital. In addition, Western Digital stockholders approved a proposal to issue additional shares of stock in order to complete the proposed acquisition. Western will pay $86.50 a share under the deal, which was first announced in October. The transaction, which so far has received regulatory approvals in the U.S., EU, Singapore, Japan, Taiwan, South Korea, Turkey and South Africa, still awaits approval in China, and is expected to close by midyear.

o San Francisco-Based iWin Acquires Gamezebo.com

San Francisco -- iWin, a San Francisco-based publisher and distributor of casual games, said on Tuesday it has acquired Gamezebo.com, a review site dedicated to casual games. Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed. Launched in 2006, Gamezebo has developed a site that includes game reviews, walkthroughs, strategy guides, user forums and industry news. The site now attracts more than 1.2 million monthly unique users and releases over 150 articles a month. "iWin entered the games review market with the acquisition of Download-free-games.com in 2015, and with the addition of Gamezebo, it propels iWin as the leading mobile games review publisher," said CEO CJ Wolf.

o Pleasanton-Based Nautilus Data Names James Connaughton as CEO

Pleasanton, Calif. -- Nautilus Data Technologies, the Pleasanton-based developer of a waterborne data center, on Tuesday named James Connaughton as its new president and CEO. He succeeds founder Arnold Magcale, who will continue as chief technology officer (CTO). Connaughton previously served as an executive vice president at several clean energy and information technology companies, and spent eight years as chairman of the White House Council on Environmental Quality under President George W. Bush. Nautilus is the first company to successfully launch a waterborne data center prototype. Its first commercial project is under construction at Mare Island Naval Shipyard, and will be deployed at a secure port facility in Northern California this summer.
