o Menlo Park-Based KPCB Leads $61.2 Million Round for Ring

Menlo Park, Calif. -- Kleiner Perkins Caufield & Byers (KPCB), the Menlo Park-based venture capital firm, said on Wednesday it has led a new $61.2 million round of funding for Santa Monica-based Ring, developer of a Wi-Fi video doorbell. Richard Branson, the founder of Virgin Group also took part in the round, which the company will use to bolster its line of smart video doorbells and expand its international presence. Ring's video doorbell alerts users when the device's motion sensors detect movement on their property or someone rings the bell. They can then see and speak to whoever is at their door through their mobile device.
