o Brazil's iFood Acquires Technology of San Francisco-Based SpoonRocket

San Francisco -- iFood, the Brazil-based developer of an online food delivery platform in Latin America, said it has acquired the technology assets of San Francisco-based SpoonRocket, developer of an on-demand food service that ceased operations earlier this week. Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed. Launched in 2013 by co-founders Steven Hsiao and Anson Tsui, SpoonRocket operated a service that let users order fresh meals online or through an app and have them delivered within 15 minutes in the Bay Area, Seattle and San Diego. iFood said it plans to use SpoonRocket's logistics technology to optimize delivery time, enhance the restaurant-to-consumer experience and continue its rapid expansion in Latin America and other markets. "We are very happy to have found a home for our technology with iFood," said Tsui. "Even though SpoonRocket did not work out, I do believe we have one of the best food delivery systems in the world and it is amazing to see it live on through iFood."

o Bald Eagle Egg Begins Hatching on Eagle Nest Cam

Washington, DC -- The first of two Bald Eagle eggs being monitored through webcams at the U.S. National Arboretum began to hatch Wednesday night, sending thousands of curious onlookers to the live feed. The parents, nicknamed "Mr. President" and "The First Lady," have been incubating the eggs at the top of a Tulip Poplar tree since February. Camera operators first witnessed a small crack in one of the eggs around 7:30 p.m. EDT last night. The crack now has grown, but it could take 12-48 hours for an eaglet to fully emerge from its shell. The pair's second egg was laid on Feb. 14 and may hatch this weekend. In several weeks, the general public will have the opportunity to help name the eaglets. The HD live stream is available at the link below.
