o Santa Clara-Based Intel Acquires Replay Technologies

Santa Clara, Calif. -- Intel, the Santa Clara-based chipmaker, said it has acquired Replay Technologies, a Newark-based developer of multi-dimensional video technology for viewers of sporting events, just one week after Replay announced $13.5 million in new funding. Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed. Intel said it has collaborated with Replay since 2013, and most recently worked with the company during the NBA All-Star Weekend, using its processors and server technology to optimize the company's 3-D video technology, known as freeD. . Intel called the acquisition a "natural next step." "Together, we will scale this new category for sports entertainment that we call immersive sports, which is attracting the attention of leagues, venues, broadcasters and fans," wrote Wendell Brooks a senior vice president at Intel and president of Intel Capital. Replay's technology allows viewers to see and experience real-life scenes through immersive camera views from multiple angles. As part of Intel, Replay's team will focus on growing its existing business and bolstering its technology with new features like the ability to manipulate and edit personalized content.

San Francisco -- Chronicled, the San Francisco-based developer of a technology platform that authenticates and tracks collectible and vintage sneakers, said on Wednesday it has raised $3.4 million in a new round of seed funding. o Survey: NCAA Tournament to Put Corporate Networks at Risk

Hanover, Md. -- Corporate networks will be at a significantly higher risk than usual during the upcoming NCAA basketball tournament, according to a new survey by TEKsystems. All told, 89% of IT professionals anticipate increased Internet usage at their organizations, and 60% believe their networks will be at greater risk due to the websites visited by employees, up from 47% a year ago. Despite company policies regarding Internet usage for events unrelated to work, more than half of those surveyed say they've seen a negative impact on network bandwidth. "This data shows that network administrators should definitely be concerned about their network's health during mass appeal sporting events," said Jason Hayman, research manager at TEKsystems. "Additionally, the increased use of alternative devices such as tablets and smartphones within the corporate environment is exacerbating the problem and will likely continue to increase." The findings are based on a survey of more than 400 IT professionals, including help desk support analysts, developers, systems administrators, database administrators and network administrators.
