o San Jose-Based Brocade to Acquire Sunnyvale's Ruckus Wireless

San Jose, Calif. -- Brocade, the San Jose-based networking technology giant, said on Monday it will acquire Sunnyvale-based Ruckus Wireless, a provider of wireless systems to the mobile Internet infrastructure market, in a cash and stock deal valued at about $1.5 billion. Under the terms of the agreement, Ruckus stockholders will receive $6.45 in cash and 0.75 shares of Brocade stock for each share of Ruckus stock. Brocade said the acquisition will bolster its enterprise networking portfolio, adding Ruckus' wireless products to its current networking offerings. o Worldwide Semiconductor Sales Dip in February

Washington, DC -- Worldwide sales of semiconductors took a significant dip in February, according to a new report from the Semiconductor Industry Association (SIA). Chip sales reached $26.0 billion for the month, down 3.2% from January and more than 6% from the same period in 2015. Sales in the Americas fell sharply, decreasing 19.3% year-over-year. "Global semiconductor sales slipped somewhat in February, due to normal seasonal trends, demand softening, and unfavorable macroeconomic conditions," said John Neuffer, president and CEO of the SIA. "Most regional markets have struggled to overcome these headwinds, and sales have dipped across the majority of semiconductor product categories."
