o Marvell Technology CEO and President Leave Company

Santa Clara, Calif. -- Marvell Technology Group, a Santa Clara-based febless semiconductor company that ships more than 1 billion chips a year, said on Tuesday that co-founders Sehat Sutardja and Weili Dai have relinquished their roles as CEO and president, respectively. Both will remain on the company's board of directors. "The board believes that the time has come to move in a new leadership direction," said Arturo Krueger, Marvell's lead outside director. "The company's highest priority is to leverage Marvell's strong core business and technology to drive the next stage of product innovation and profitable growth." The board, in conjunction with an executive search firm, will launch a search for their successors. The news comes days after Marvell warned that its fiscal 2016 net revenue is expected to be "significantly" lower and received a delisting warning form the Nasdaq for missing a deadline to file financial reports with the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC).

San Francisco -- Virool, the San Francisco-based developer of a video distribution platform for marketers, said on Tuesday it has raised $12 million in its first round of funding from Menlo Ventures, Yahoo Japan, Flint Capital and 500 Startups. "The additional funding will accelerate our North America, Latin America and Europe plans, and extend Virool into APAC with the strategic sense of Yahoo Japan," said CEO Alex Debelov. o S.F.-Based Twitter Wins Rights to Stream Thursday Night NFL Games

San Francisco -- The National Football League (NFL) on Tuesday selected San Francisco-based Twitter to live-stream Thursday Night Football games over the Internet. The social media platform, which beat out bids from companies such as Facebook, Amazon and Verizon, will stream 10 games, all told. NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell announced the news Tuesday morning via a tweet. The league had been searching for a partner after a trial run last year when Sunnyvale-based Yahoo won the right to stream the Jacksonville Jaguars-Buffalo Bills game from London. "This is about transforming the fan experience with football. People watch NFL games with Twitter today," Twitter CEO Jack Dorsey said in a statement. "Now they'll be able to watch right on Twitter Thursday nights." In addition to live streaming the game, Twitter's partnership includes in-game highlights and pre-game Periscope broadcasts with players and teams. CBS and NBC each will broadcast five of the Thursday night games, which the NFL Network will simulcast and Twitter will stream. "There is a massive amount of NFL-related conversation happening on Twitter during our games and tapping into that audience, in addition to our viewers on broadcast and cable, will ensure Thursday Night Football is seen on an unprecedented number of platforms this season," Goodell said in a statement. "This agreement also provides additional reach for those brands advertising with our broadcast partners."

Oakland -- Veriflow, an Oakland-based developer of network breach and outage prevention software, said on Tuesday it has launched out of stealth with $2.9 million in a round of seed funding led by New Enterprise Associates (NEA). The National Science Foundation and the Department of Defense also contributed. The company's software, expected to become generally available after midyear, uses mathematical network verification to protect complex networks. Pete Sonsini, a general partner at NEA, said the technology "helps close the security gaps that are frequently attributed to human error, such as misconfigured devices, poor policy management and insider threats." The company is led by President and CEO James Brear, who served as the CEO of Procera until its acquisition by Francisco Partners last August.
