o Campbell-Based ChargePoint Raises $50M to Expand EV Charging Network

Campbell, Calif. -- ChargePoint, the Campbell-based developer of an electric vehicle (EV) charging network, said on Wednesday it has secured an additional $50 million in a new round of funding led by Linse Capital. Previous backers Braemar Energy Ventures and Constellation Energy also participated in the round, which increased the company's total funding to more than $164 million. "[The funding] will allow us to scale to service the needs of future EV drivers and companies wishing to install EV charging in their parking lots," said CEO Pasquale Romano. ChargePoint's network includes more than 28,000 charging spots in North America. All stations are independently owned and operated, giving station owners the freedom of flexible pricing and access control. ChargePoint also on Wednesday elevated current board member Bruce Chizen, the former CEO of Adobe, to chairman.

o San Francisco-Based Prosper Marketplace Cuts 28% of Staff

San Francisco -- Struggling with a decline in loan volume, San Francisco-based Prosper Marketplace, the operator of an online marketplace that connects borrowers and investors, is cutting 28% of its staff, or about 171 jobs, The Wall Street Journal reported. The cuts include about 14% of the company's combined staff in San Francisco and Phoenix, as well as the closing of an entire office in Utah. Some of the company's top management, including Josh Tonderys, its chief risk officer, and business development executive Itzik Cohen also will depart, The Journal reported. Prosper was valued at about $1.9 billion when it raised $165 million in funding last year, but has yet to turn a profit. The company's loan volume shrunk to $973 million during the first quarter, down 12% from the prior quarter.

San Jose, Calif. -- Adobe, the San Jose-based maker of web publishing software, said it will acquire San Francisco-based Livefyre, developer of a real-time content marketing and engagement platform.
