o S.F.-Based TravelBank Raises $10 Million for Travel Budgeting App

San Francisco -- TravelBank, the San Francisco-based developer of a mobile-first budgeting app that automates the expense and budget management process, said it has raised $10 million in its first round of funding, led by New Enterprise Associates (NEA). Accel also participated in the round, which the company has used to launch its offering on iOS, Android and the web. TravelBank's service is designed to help clients stop the cycle of employees overspending on travel costs. An algorithm predicts trip budgets based on real-time pricing, taking into account airfare, ground transportation, meals and local parking. Once the budget is in place, employees expense against it, with green, yellow, and red bars showing their spending over time compares to the predicted budget. Clients then have the opportunity to reward employees who beat their budget. TravelBank was co-founded by Duke Chung, who previously started and sold customer service startup Parature to Microsoft for $100 million nearly three years ago.

o San Francisco-Based Twilio Prices $280 Million Follow-On Offering

San Francisco -- Four months after raising $150 million in its initial public offering (IPO), San Francisco-based Twilio, developer of a platform that lets businesses embed communication and authentication capabilities into their software apps, late Thursday priced a $280 million follow-on offering. The company priced 7 million shares at $40 each. The company however, will only keep about $25.6 million of the proceeds, since all but 641,000 of the shares are being sold by current stockholders. Twilio's platform is used to embed messaging, voice and video capabilities directly into software applications. The eight-year-old company has more than 650 employees in 11 offices.

o San Jose-Based Quantum Secures $170 Million Financing Package

San Jose, Calif. -- Quantum, a San Jose-based developer of storage, archive and data protection tools, said on Friday it has secured a $170 million financing package from PNC Bank and TCW Direct Lending. The package included an $80 million revolving credit facility with an additional $20 million available under an accordion feature, a $50 million term loan and a $20 million delayed draw term loan. Quantum said it will use the proceeds to pay off the approximately $60 million drawn on its former revolving credit facility with Wells Fargo Capital Finance, as well as address $70 million of convertible notes maturing in Nov. 2017. "This package protects the interests of our current shareholders by not including an equity component and also gives us substantially more operational and financial flexibility from a capital allocation and investment standpoint," said CFO Fuad Ahmad.

Santa Clara, Calif. -- Infoblox, a Santa Clara-based developer of network control technology, said it has received clearance from the German Federal Cartel Office to complete its $1.6 billion acquisition by private equity firm Vista Equity Partners. That comes just a week after both the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) and the Antitrust Division of the Department of Justice granted early termination of the waiting period under the Hart-Scott-Rodino Act, allowing the deal to close by the end of January. Infoblox stockholders will receive $26.50 a share under the deal, which was first announced in September. A cash tender offer is scheduled to expire Nov. 4.
