o San Francisco-Based Sun Basket Raises $15 Million in Third Round

San Francisco -- Sun Basket, the San Francisco-based developer of a web-based service delivering healthy meal kits to subscribers, said on Friday it has landed $15 million in its third round of funding, led by Sapphire Ventures. Baseline Ventures, PivotNorth Capital, Accolade Partners, Founders Circle Capital, Shea Ventures, Relevance Capital, Vulcan Capital, Filter 14 and angels also contributed. Founded in 2014 Sun Basket delivers organic, pre-measured ingredients and easy-to-cook recipes weekly to subscribers. o Report: Trump Administration Uncertainty Sours Confidence of Some VCs

San Francisco -- Uncertainty surrounding the incoming Trump administration has eroded some of the confidence of area VCs, according to the latest Silicon Valley Venture Capitalist Confidence Index. The index, produced by University of San Francisco professor Mark Cannice, registered a 3.81 out of 5 in the fourth quarter, down from 3.88 the previous quarter. "Continuing concerns over political uncertainty restrained sentiment despite an outlook for rapid innovation and a more welcoming exit environment in 2017," wrote Cannice. Several venture capitalists interviewed for the report echoed those sentiments. "A combination of political and international instability in the U.S. and abroad will likely cause market volatility, with great uncertainty before the new administration's actual policies get unveiled," wrote Dag Syrrist of Vision Capital. Another unnamed respondent wrote, "new administration creates a significantly higher risk of a major disaster (political, military, economic) that will appear as a one-off event, but for which the foundation is currently being laid." o Mobile E-Commerce Spending Hits Highest Mark Ever in Q4

Reston, Va. -- E-commerce spending from mobile devices accounted for 21% total online sales during the fourth quarter, according to a new report from comScore. The figure marks mobile's highest recorded share of online sales for a single quarter since the company began measuring m-commerce in 2010. comScore said that smartphones and tablets have become increasingly important to online buying with every succeeding year. In 2010, for example, less than 4% of online sales occurred through mobile devices. Overall, fourth quarter e-commerce spending in the U.S. totaled $109.3 billion, up 18% from the same period in 2015. The complete report is at the link below.
