o Los Altos-Based Netskope Raises $100 Million in Fifth Round

Los Altos, Calif. -- Netskope, the Los Altos-based developer of a cloud security platform, said on Tuesday it has raised $100 million in its fifth round of funding, co-led by Lightspeed Venture Partners and Accel. Social Capital and Iconiq Capital also participated, along with new investors Sapphire Ventures and Geodesic Capital. The company, which now has raised $231.4 million since its inception, said it will use the funds to fuel the further development and commercialization of its enterprise cloud security platform, designed to provide context-aware governance of all cloud usage in the enterprise in real-time, whether accessed from the corporate network, remotely or from a mobile device. "When we founded Netskope, we knew that the far-reaching impact of the cloud would require a fundamentally new approach to security," said founder and CEO Sanjay Beri. "Today's investment gives us the fuel we need to make that vision a reality."

o Palo Alto-Based Plume Design Secures $37.5 Million in Funding

Palo Alto, Calif. -- Plume Design, the Palo Alto-based developer of a self-optimizing WiFi system designed to dynamically adapt to changing network loads and interference, said on Tuesday it has secured $37.5 million in a new round of funding. New investors Comcast Cable, Samsung Venture Investment and Presidio Ventures joined previous backers Liberty Global, Shaw Cable and Jackson Square Ventures in the round, which increased the company's total funding to more than $63 million. Plume said it will use the proceeds to accelerate the deployment and integration of the company's Adaptive WiFi -- which makes decisions in real-time on WiFi channel, frequency, client connections and whole-home coverage topology -- in Internet Service Provider (ISP) networks and third party hardware. Comcast currently is working with Plume to combine the company's technologies with its recently launched Xfinity xFi platform. Plume also said it plans to launch new products and expand in both Silicon Valley and Europe. Tyson Marian, Comcast's vice president of strategic development, has joined the company's board of directors.

o Palo Alto-Based Armis Launches from Stealth After Raising $17 Million

Palo Alto, Calif. -- Armis, the Palo Alto-based developer of an enterprise Internet-of-Things (IoT) security platform, said on Tuesday it has launched out of stealth after raising $17 million in funding in a round co-led by Sequoia Capital and Tenaya Capital. Other investors included Zohar Zisapel, the founder and chairman of RAD Technologies; René Bonvanie, the chief marketing officer (CMO) of Palo Alto Networks; and Mickey Boodaei, the founder of Imperva and Trusteer. Armis's agentless IoT security platform is designed to let enterprises see and control compromised and unmanaged devices and rogue networks accessing their systems. "The fact is you cannot put an agent on most of the devices in an organization today, which means we need a new approach," said co-founder and CEO Yevgeny Dibrov. "We built Armis to give enterprises complete visibility into all devices in their environment without requiring an agent. We can stop devices from compromising corporate assets, regardless of whether those devices are managed by IT." Dibrov previously served on the executive team at Adallom, which was acquired by Microsoft in 2015. He also served with co-founder and CTO Nadir Izrael in the Israeli Defense Forces.

Savonix said it will use the proceeds to expand to international markets, including Japan and China, as well as develop additional partnerships with medical organizations and bolster its data science and product team. The company's flagship mobile platform, Savonix Mobile, is designed to let clinicians assess and track a patient's cognitive health, then use that data to build treatment plans based on an individual's specific needs. "We designed Savonix to eliminate the high cost and time investments of traditional cognitive tests," said founder and CEO Mylea Charvat. Cognitive tests are a proven predictor of outcomes in disorders as varied as chronic pain, Alzheimer's Disease, depression, Diabetes, ADHD and Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD).
