o Sunnyvale-Based Illumio Raises $125 Million in Fourth Round

Sunnyvale, Calif. -- Illumio, the Sunnyvale-based developer of a cybersecurity platform designed to control the lateral movement of unauthorized communications, said on Wednesday it has raised $125 million in its fourth round of funding, led by J.P. Morgan Asset Management. Previous backers Andreessen Horowitz, General Catalyst, 8VC, Accel and Data Collective also participated, increasing the company's total funding to $267 million. Illumio said it will use the latest proceeds to fuel its growth in data center and cloud security, significantly expanding its global field sales, marketing and customer support operations, and bolstering product development. The company's adaptive segmentation technology is used by clients such as Morgan Stanley, Plantronics, Salesforce, King Entertainment, NetSuite, Oak Hill Advisors, Workday and Creative Artists Agency. "Illumio is uniquely suited to address the needs of large and small organizations as they shift focus away from the perimeter and towards having complete visibility and control inside the data center and cloud compute environments," said co-founder and CEO Andrew Rubin.

o San Francisco-Based Scout RFP Lands $15.5 Million in Second Round

San Francisco -- Scout RFP, the San Francisco-based developer of a cloud-based sourcing platform designed to help clients streamline their bidding and purchasing process, said on Wednesday it has landed $15.5 million in its second round of funding, led by Menlo Ventures. New Enterprise Associates (NEA) also took part in the round, which increases the company's total backing to $27.25 million. Matt Murphy, managing director at Menlo Ventures, will join the company's board of directors. Scout said it will use the latest proceeds to expand engineering activities, extend its reach internationally and further develop its platform. The platform is designed to help companies streamline supplier selection, centralize data, collaborate cross-functionally, manage contracts and make more informed purchasing decisions. Customers using the platform include Adobe, CEMEX, easyJet, Owens Corning and Zappos.

o San Francisco-Based Autopilot Lands $12 Million in New Funding

San Francisco -- Autopilot, a San Francisco-based developer of visual marketing software, said it has raised $12 million in a new round of funding, led by Blackbird Ventures. The round, which increased the company's total backing to $32 million, also included participation from previous investors Rembrandt Venture Partners, Salesforce Ventures and Southern Cross Venture Partners. In addition, Autopilot said it has launched a new tool, Insights, which it describes as a "fitness tracker for journey marketers to set, track and measure goals." "With the launch of Insights and continued support from our investors, we're helping marketers move beyond batch and blast email," said co-founder and CEO Mike Sharkey. Founded in 2012, Autopilot serves more than 2,300 B2B and B2C customers, including Microsoft, Atlassian, Lyft, Freshdesk, Crunchbase and Laser Clinics Australia.

Cupertino, Calif. -- Apple remains at No. 3 in the newly released 2017 Fortune 500, an annual ranking of America's largest corporations, based on revenue. The Cupertino-based company, which first broke into the top five three years ago, was the highest-ranked technology company on the list. Wal-Mart Stores remained No. 1 overall, followed by Berkshire Hathaway. San Francisco-based McKesson also again made the top five, remaining at No. 5, while San Ramon-based Chevron fell five spots to No. 19. o Fremont-Based Synnex to Acquire Businesses from Datatec

Fremont, Calif. -- Synnex, a Fremont-based provider of distribution, logistics and integration services to the technology industry, said it will acquire South Africa-based Datatec's Westcon-Comstor Americas business and become a minority shareholder in the company's Westcon EMEA and APAC businesses. Under the deal, Synnex will pay $600 million, including $500 million in stock and $100 million in cash, at closing, plus up to $200 million more in potential earn-outs. Westcon-Comstor is specializes in products and services in the security, unified communications and collaboration (UCC) and networking space. "We believe this is a unique opportunity that is transformational to Synnex and is aligned to our strategy of positioning the business to where technology is growing," said CEO Kevin Murai. The acquisition is expected to close by the end of September.
