o San Francisco-Based Amplitude Raises $30 Million in Third Round

San Francisco -- Amplitude, a San Francisco-based developer of product analytics designed to help clients understand user behavior, ship faster and drive strong business outcomes, said on Thursday it has raised $30 million in its third round of funding, led by IVP. Previous backers Benchmark Capital and Battery Ventures also participated in the round, increasing the company's total funding to $59 million. Amplitude said it will use the latest funds to expand its operations internationally and bolster research and development activities. The company currently serves more than 5,000 clients, including Microsoft, Twitter and PayPal. "While the influence and importance of product teams inside large enterprises is skyrocketing… they're stuck using solutions built for marketing that don't tell them how their products are being used and what features drive revenue," said CEO Spenser Skates. "Many of these companies are turning to Amplitude."

o HackerOne Hackers Find More Than 200 Issues with Air Force Websites

San Francisco -- HackerOne, the San Francisco-based developer of a hacker-powered security platform, said on Thursday that its recent "Hack the Air Force" federal bug bounty program resulted in 207 valid vulnerabilities disclosed and more than $130,000 in bounties awarded to white-hat hackers. The 24-day program allowed 272 vetted hackers -- including, for the first time, those from outside the U.S. -- to scour the Air Force's public-facing IT domains for security vulnerabilities, awarding financial incentives between $100-$5,000 for each valid vulnerability reported. One 17-year-old hacker submitted 30 valid reports and earned the largest bounty sum during the challenge. It marked HackerOne's third partnership with the Department of Defense, following the Hack the Pentagon and Hack the Army bug bounty challenges.
