o San Francisco-Based HomeLight Raises $40 in Second Round of Funding

San Francisco -- HomeLight, the San Francisco-based developer of an online marketplace designed to connect home sellers with real estate agents, said on Tuesday it has raised $40 million in its second round of funding, led by Menlo Ventures. New investor Citi Ventures and previous backers Zeev Ventures, SGVC, Crosslink Capital and Innovation Endeavors also participated in the round, which increased the company's total funding to $55 million since its inception in 2012. Tyler Sosin of Menlo Ventures will join the company's board of directors. HomeLight's platform aims to help home sellers find real estate agents based on their performance data. The company's algorithms analyze 2 million real estate agents and nearly 30 million aggregated residential real estate transactions. As a result, the company claims that homes sold through its service sell 29 days faster than average, and at slightly higher prices. HomeLight said it will use the proceeds to double its headcount by early 2018, making key hires across sales, marketing, operations and engineering within both its San Francisco headquarters and its Phoenix office. The company also plans to further bolster its platform.

o Mountain View-Based Filld Lands $9.65 Million for Mobile Fueling Service

Mountain View, Calif. -- Filld, the Mountain View-based developer of a mobile fueling service that delivers gas directly to customers, said on Tuesday it has landed $9.65 million in its first round of funding, increasing its total backing to more than $16 million. Shea Ventures led the round, which also included participation from previous investors PivotNorth Capital, Javelin Venture Partners, Lightspeed Venture Partners and Lucas Venture Group, as well as new investor Cendana Capital. Filld allows customers to schedule fill-ups 24 hours a day at both commercial and residential locations through its mobile app. The company said it will use the latest funds to expand its operations and develop more partnerships. It already works with partners such as Bentley Motors, Volvo, Daimler car2go and Enterprise Rent-A-Car, and plans to announce several other large automotive partners by year's end. "We understand that people already dislike the gas station experience," said CEO Michael Buhr. "Our goal is to liberate all drivers from the stress and disruption of having to go to the gas station."
